No SmokingIt is, as much, a house as a work of industrial art. The house is built around a large concrete water-way, which was originally part of the Winthrop water supply. That bunker is now the floor of an upper bedroom, as well as the walls of the living room and a second bedroom on the main floor. It is a hand-built, and handmade riverfront pleasure.
Located about 1/3 mile downstream of downtown Winthrop and its iconic old west boardwalk.... it is close, yet private. This is a "one of a kind experience" not to be passed over.
There are two bedrooms The first bedroom includes a queen bed and the second a queen and a bunk bed. The main-floor master has it's own bath, and outside entrance overlooking the river. Full kitchen, internet, unique wood stove, heated floors, patio with picnic table and small propane grill.If the bedroom to living space door is left open and a window open in dining area, it works quite well for cooling.And if you need a little more room, there is another wondrous house, for friends, called, River Nest. The house was lovely and unique, a great fit to enjoy the town of Winthrop and the surrounding outdoor pursuits. The house was well stocked for our group of 6. We would definitely stay there again!
What a beautiful house! My mom and I enjoyed our stay here so much. Great location and everything you need right around the corner. There is a picnic table right by the river to enjoy your meals near. My mom loved staying here so much I had to convince her to leave to do our planned hikes. I highly recommend staying here.
The constant sound of the river was amazing. The house is beautiful and well laid out. The location is perfect (smell of pizza makes you hungry every time you leave!) The house was comfortable and well-equipped. We loved that there were linen napkins and lots of homey touches. George was very responsive and friendly and we loved the funny notes around the house!

Stayed in this home for a family get away. So relaxing, love the river access, proximity to town and trails. Pizza across the parking lot was great for a no prep dinner. Thank you for a wonderful family get away!
Overall we loved our stay! One advice would be to let people know you have some fans available. We didn’t realize this and brought two fans with us from Seattle.
George's place is a unique property full of creative details, located right on the river. Lots of art, lovely outdoor sitting spaces, and has all the necessary basics.

We loved our stay at the River House. It was convenient to town and well equipped for a family getaway. We loved being in the river, and sharing meals on the patio. Will definitely book for a future visit.
Great place to stay in Winthrop! We loved using the fire pit and patio in the evening. It was also so nice being right on the river and close to our favorite pizza place! My Fiance and I stayed with my parents and loved having space to spread out and having two full bathrooms!
The house is situated along the Methow River which is quite nice and peaceful to listen to. The outdoor space is also enjoyable
The cabin was unique and rustic. We enjoyed the local brewery and 2 days of heli-boarding at N. Cascade heli. Comfortable beds and nice size.
What a special spot! Best rental house ever. We really enjoyed all the creative touches and the well outfitted kitchen.
