No SmokingHouse 4 is fantastic, recently built in the Heckendorn neighborhood of Winthrop, WA, which is just ’a stone's throw’ from downtown Winthrop. It is energy efficient; made of SIP panels, with roof-mounted solar panels, and heated concrete floors. It sits one house away from the Methow River and is a short walk to a riverfront park just ‘downstream’ of Winthrop, which is itself a 10-minute walk away. Pets are welcome, and the park is dog-friendly.
The covered entry and yard face south and are a nice afternoon sitting area. There is a small table-top propane BBQ. The owner likes to sleep outside, so there is also an ‘outdoor twin bed’ for those of hardy ilk. For the weaker of us, you can (conveniently) go inside. The main floor is an open-plan layout with the kitchen, dining area, and living area combined. There is also a twin bedroom and full bath with laundry area.
Upstairs are two queen bedrooms with a connecting hallway that has a twin bed, as well as a full bathroom.
There is easy uncovered parking for two side-by-side cars, with space for more, though it involves a little shuffling. There is a 120-volt outlet near the front door for some minor vehicle charging. The house does not have A/C, though the owner states, “It hasn’t been needed, especially if you remember to close the blinds upstairs. There are a couple of fans.”
