This is a unique, handcrafted two-bedroom home, 1,100 sq. ft, tucked away high above the valley floor. The aggregate flooring and eclectic furnishings bring rustic comfort together to create a cabin with delightful character.
If it’s views you seek, Howe House is the lodging choice for you. Enjoy the views from your primary bedroom, or the newly constructed sleeping porch. The expansive views of Virginia Ridge, Lucky Jim Bluff, Sandy Butte, and Grizzly Mountain bring the outdoors to you. The cozy wood-fired hot tub for 2 on the patio completes your outdoor experience. (Wood provided; hot tub is available only during the low-fire-risk season and winter months — generally not available May-Oct).
The principal bedroom has a queen bed, and there is a second, smaller bedroom behind the shared partial wall. The living room has a queen fold-out couch. There is also a sleeping porch with a heater and queen bed-an excellent choice until it gets really cold.
Near the National Forest and only 3 miles to the Ski/Bike Trails.
Wintertime requires a 4-wheel drive or chains to reach this great getaway.

Enjoyed the stereo/audio/dvd/everything set up, appreciated the architecture/engineering, shelves of books & art on the walls, was glad to find everything we needed in the kitchen for cooking our meals! And the hammock & outdoor furniture were sirens that lulled us into rest on the sunny weekend days we had!
We loved the Balsamroot flowering along the steps up to the entry, the trail up to the bench with views of the Gardners, being able to slip out the back gate to the USFS lands, and watching House Wrens build a nest in the Aspen outside the kitchen window. The Towhees and Chipping Sparrows start the day early and set the sun at night, a birder's delight. Howe Cabin is a special home in a spectacular place and we feel much gratitude for the opportunity to stay there.
Very detailed with instructions and communication
Howe House was so comfortable and well-appointed, and we lacked for nothing. A special treat on our last night was the wood-fired hot tub, spearheaded by our adult children. We particularly appreciated the call Methow Reservations made to the owner asking if we could use the detached bedroom, which afforded our adult kids a little more privacy--and adventure!
Tranquil and quiet. Short drive in to Winthrop so was convenient. We’d definitely recommend this unique property!

The only thing I couldn't find was a pair of scissors! It is exceptionally well stocked with everything we wanted and even extras we didn't expect (like travel sizes of toothpaste and deodorant!).
This is the latest in many lovely visits to Howe House, as always, we were sad to leave. Many thanks to the owners for their generosity in sharing it with others!
Great place! The house was warm and sunny and a great size for our family of 3. Loved the windows to the west and the view.
